Brand new laptop problems Middlesbrough

Ayton Computers Middlesbrough Laptop Repair.
www.aytonpc.co.uk
Today I was called out to fix a brand new laptop in Middlesbrough.
the problem was that the laptop was loaded with windows 10 and when the initial install was set off it sated  that updates will be automatically installed.
so the customer loaded up the windows 10 as instructed but when the updates tried it stopped the laptop working completely.
I have contacted Microsoft and investigated the internet and have found that this is quite a common problem with windows 10 laptops.
As there was no access to the laptop after the windows 10 update I was forced to reset the laptop back to factory setting,
This was not really a problem as the laptop was brand new so had no personal data to worry about.

wifi Broad band problems fixed Middlesbrough

I have just come back from a home call out computer repair in Middlesbrough.
The problem was that the customers computer we connecting to the broadband router but he had no internet access.
after testing the router by connecting to it with another device I determined that the router was ok and had internet access.
I now knew the problem was with the computer and not the router.
first I looked into all the computers INTERNET, LAN and WIFI setting, all was ok.
I reset all internet browsers back to default, internet explorer, Google chrome and even fire fox ( which I think is the worst internet browser - just my opinion ) still no  internet access.
I deleted all internet cookies, temp internet files, and windows temp files still no internet access.
after looking through his programs and not seeing any ROUGH programs I noticed Norton Anti virus software. I asked if the customer has an active subscription for Norton and he answered that he has not paid for any subscriptions.
I then uninstalled the Norton anti virus restarted  the computer and hey presto internet access.

This is why I am the greatest computer repair man in the world and beyond ( depending on your views )

so if your computer needs a repair and you live in the Middlesbrough area contact Ayton Computers

The Great Internet WIFI Mystery.
http://www.aytonpc.co.uk/
Today was a weird one. I was on a computer home fix call out in Stokesley.
Customer was having problems with the Wifi and need a repair.
The computer was in a room about 4mtrs from the broadband router.
The customer stated that the internet was sometimes working ok but other times not at all.
I checked all  the broadband, internet, and wifi network setting one the PC and all was ok.
I then made a speed test for the broadband and it was coming up at 0.4mbps this is  not even dial up speed.
I then connected the computer to  the router with and Ethernet Cable and re run the internet speed test, wooooooo 10mbps nothing wrong there then.
so we made a call to the broadband provider who promptly tested the phone line and the broadband signal all was ok.
hhmm MYSTERY I here you say.
well it was then that I noticed that the router was just the other side of a cupboard upon asking what was in the cupboard the customer said it was a hot  water emersion heater, basically a MASSIVE copper wifi signal stopper.
So to by pass this problem I then installed a couple of Micro home plugs attached one to  the PC and one to the router and HEY PRESTO broadband stable and fast.

The Incredible Laptop hard drive mystery Great Ayton
http://www.aytonpc.co.uk/laptop-repair-ayton-middlesbrough.html
I had a Laptop brought to me this week from one of my customers in great Ayton that was not booting into windows.
When I tried a factory reset the laptop did not recognise the hard drive.
I took the drive out and linked it up through my gizmo to my computer, the drive was still not recognised, I then had to re initialise the disk through disc manager, create a partition and format the disc,
I then reinstalled the hard disc back into the laptop and installed windows 7 from a dvd disc.
Every thing seemed to install ok at first.
then I tried to install the drivers this is when I noticed that everything was running REALY REALY slow.
after battling on trying to install the drivers for a few hours it became apparent that the hard drive was no good, I ordered a new hard drive for the laptop installed, installed windows and all the drivers without any problems,
It just goes to show that even though the hard drive appeared to be ok you just never can tell.

Broad band problems in Stokesley Middlesbrough.
I received a call today from a customer who was having intermittent broadband problems.
the WIFI was not stable every now and then it would drop off so they had no service.
I checked all the setting and all the cables everything was ok.
I checked all the filters and still everything was ok.
we made a call to the internet service provider they checked all the lines and all was ok.
in the end we decided to use a set of home plugs, these things use your electric wiring circuit as and Ethernet in effect making your electrical circuit a home network, every easy to install and with the added bonus that you don't need to buy a router or run Ethernet cables all over the house.
after installing the home plugs the problem was solved and my customers now have a stable  internet connection.

as a Microsoft engineer I have been fixing computers, laptops, printers etc for over 12 years now.
I am also a qualified networking engineer and have several small business clients in the Middlesbrough area that I look after their networks,
The main call out on a network is printers, these seem to be the worst part of the computer world in my opinion.

generally once you have set up a computer  network the should be no reason to for a call out on the actual network itself. most of the cabling will last for years, all cables for a computer net work should be cat5 e or cat6.

Microsoft windows 7 and above are very easy to install networks on, they should just find all the other computers and do all the work itself.
